Frequently Asked Questions
III. Questions
about vitamins & supplements
1) When should
I begin to take supplements if I were to start my shin bone routine?
– You should take
vitamins & supplements 2 weeks before starting the shin bone routine. Why? because it
takes time for your bones, cartilage, and collagen fibers to get used to the
nutrients & growth changes. Plus,
when you begin to officially start the routine, it’ll be a big boost. In short, do not wait but take supplements as
early as you can to prepare for your routine!
2) How should I take vitamin/supplement in the
first 30 to 60 days?
– For best results, you may choose
to increase the recommended dose within the first 30 to 60 days. Sky, Juan, and other experimenters are
currently taking 2000 mg calcium/ 500 IU vitamin d everyday in divided
doses. Also, we take 2000 mg glucosamine/ 1600 ng chondroitin everyday in divided doses.
About 1 or 2 months later, we will decrease the dosage strength and will take
1,500 mg calcium/ 400 IU vitamin D and 1,500 glucosamine/
800 mg chondroitin.
Why? because
this is the maintenance level. There is no need to continue increasing
the dosage strength because your body now adapts and learns to maintain its
secretion and excretion level.
Is it safe to increase the dosage strength?
We think it is not a big deal to do so because your body only absorbs a
little amount of nutrients from the supplements as the rest will be eliminated
in urine, feces, and body. However, you
should consult with your doctor if you have any doubt.
3) Why vitamins
& supplements are important for bone growth?
– Imagine if you skip
breakfast and lunch, you will be so exhausted by the end of the day that you
cannot walk, run, jump, or do anything that requires motion. In another scenario, for example, if you sit
with ankle weights for 3 hours everyday, you are likely to notice growth in
your shin bone within the first 4 weeks.
HOWEVER, that kind of growth may not last long because you are abusing
and starving your shin bone, fibula, collagen fibers, cartilage, joints. Your lower
legs need all the nutrients, energy, and growth from calcium, Vitamin D, glucosamine, and chondroitin.
4)
Why taking vitamins or supplements do not work by itself?
– Older people who have weak bones usually take glucosamine,
chondroitin, calcium, and vitamin D… these supplements
help to ease the rigidity, grow, re-build, and strengthen bones and relieve
sore joints and cartilage.
Taking supplements alone is unlikely to help you grow taller.. however, taking supplements
while exerting enormous stress on your shin bone (such as sitting with ankle
weights) can be a great way to trigger weak electrical currents, grow new
cartilage, and form new bones.
5) Are there
any side effects associated with taking vitamins & supplements?
– It is quite rare that you
may develop kidney stone or any symptoms from taking these vitamins &
supplements. Why? because thus far, there
are no major reports about the negative effects from taking these
supplements. Also, know that your
digestive system is extremely powerful as it makes sure that your body only
absorbs enough nutrients from these supplements because the rest will be eliminated
in body, urine, and feces.
6) Are liquid-form
supplements the big waves of the future?
– “…Nutrients in a
liquid form will, within the next five years, revolutionize the entire
nutritional market…”
“…The news about the low
absorption rate of pills is spreading fast and even the best selling vitamin
distributor Centrum
has
released a multivitamin in liquid form.”

7)
Why liquid-form supplements are best for bone growth?
– A nutrient in
liquid form offers an 80% to “…98% absorption rate because it bypasses the
digestive process and goes directly into the bloodstream, reaching the cells
within a matter of minutes.” – by: Sheri L. Johnson
- The average absorption
in adults is approximately 10 percent, and even less if digestive problems are
present. The remaining 90 percent are eliminated, making mineral replenishment
essential. Now Changes International introduces a powerful mineral formula in a
liquid that is absorbed and utilized by the body almost 100 percent. The
body's absorption and utilization rate of the minerals in this formula
are also approximately 8-10 times greater than with elemental minerals taken in
a tablet form. By: Greg Lonien
8) Why am I wasting money on pill or capsule
form supplement?
– “The Physician's
Desk Reference (page 1542) shows that vitamins and minerals in a pill form are
only 10 to 20% absorbed by the body. That means for every $100 you are spending
on nutrients, you are literally flushing about $90 of it down the toilet.
Because of this lack of absorption, companies must use mega dose of nutrients
and this can cause a taxation on the kidneys.
According to the National Advisory Board, 100 mg consumed
in a tablet form translates to a
minute stabilized 8.3mg concentration in the blood.”
by: David
Friedman – a certified Doctor of
Naturopathy and a board qualified chiropractic neurologist. He has published
articles in various chiropractic journals and writes a monthly nutritional
newspaper column called "Health Talk."
9) Is it safe to continue taking supplements for
6 months or more?
– “...In a more recent 2000 study
at the Assaf Harofeh Medical
Center, in Ziffrin, 57 patients with
osteoarthritis in the knee were treated randomly for four weeks with glucosamine sulfate intravenously combined with an 800 mg
of chondroitin sulfate daily, or with a placebo. As
in the 1982 study, a record was kept of their knee pain when at rest, standing,
or moving. No reduction of symptoms occurred with the placebo group, but the glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate group showed much reduction
of symptoms in all activity/nonactivity functions.
This latter group also showed no negative reactions or any change in their
blood tests. The study concluded that glucosamine
sulfate is safe for long-term osteoarthritis treatment.” – by: Arthritis & Glucosamine Resource Center. For

10)
How do I store vitamin/supplement?
- Keep the supplement bottle at room temperature in a cool, dry place. The bottle must be tightly closed. Do not store in bathroom.
11)
At Wa-mart, how much do supplements cost?
- At Wal-mart:
- A 600 mg calcium / 125 IU vitamin D
bottle containing 80 tablets costs about $3.89 US.
- A 750 mg glucosamine
/ 600 mg chondroitin bottle containing 80
tablets costs about $17.96 US. The
manufacturer is Spring
Valley.
- A liquid-form Centrum bottle costs about
$7.96.
12)
Where can I buy vitamins & supplements?
- You can go to any drugstore and purchase vitamin/supplement over the
counter. Keep in mind that there are
many useless vitamins & supplements out there because a lot of companies
rush to the market and put their products on store shelves without doing any
clinically testing or research. Be very
careful when choosing a specific brand-name or manufacturer when buying.
Make sure that you must buy the glucosamine bottle
with added ingredients such as chondroitin, shark
cartilage, and so forth. I really like Wal-mart
because the company itself is known for quality and affordable products. So, I feel safer buying glucosamine
products there. Wal-mart
is presently carrying vitamins & supplements made by Spring Valley (the
manufacturer).
On the other hand, if you have some money, your best bet is to choose
liquid-form supplements because they will give you better & quicker results
in shin bone growth. Also, they will
save you time & money. You may go to
Google or Yahoo search engine and do research
for liquid-form supplements. I’ve done
some intense research and have found 2 reputable liquid-form supplements on the
market. They are Synflex
& Flexicose.
13)
I forget to take my dose.. what
should I do?
- It is
wise to always carry a small bottle (containing both vitamins &
supplements) with you at all times so that you can take them at school, work,
or at the movies. If you miss a dose, then
you may double the dose the next time you take it or you can skip it and resume
to your regular schedule. You can take 1
tablet of Calcium/vitamin D & 1 tablet of glucosamine/chondroitin
at the same time. However, try NOT to
take 2 tablets of calcium/vitamin d or 2 tablets of glucosamine/chondroitin
because you’re
just shocking your digestive system with chemicals. Plus, your body only absorbs enough nutrients
from each tablet.
14)
Should I buy supplements in liquid form or in pill/capsule form?
- It’s totally up to you. Supplements
that are in pill or capsule form are cheaper but they may not be as effective
as those in liquid-form.
On the other hand, supplements that are in liquid form may be a bit expensive;
however, you’re getting big bang for your bucks, and of course, you will
achieve much better & quicker results because the liquid form absorption
rate is about 80% to 98% which is almost 5 to 7 times higher than pill/capsule
form. There are many junk supplements
out there because a lot of companies rush to the market to make money without
ever doing any clinical experiments.
It’s not easy to find liquid-form calcium & vitamin d because a majority of
them is made in solid-form. Thus, you
can take calcium & vitamin d in pill/capsule-form and try to take glucosamine in liquid-form if you have some money.
15)
How to shop for calcium/vitamin d?
- The "best supplement" is the one that meets an individual's needs based on tolerance, convenience,
cost and availability. In choosing a calcium supplement, the following are
important considerations: PURITY.. Choose calcium supplements that are known brand
names with proven reliability. Look for labels that state "purified"
or have the USP (United States Pharmacopeia)
symbol. Since applying for the USP
symbol is voluntary, many fine products may not display this symbol.
Avoid calcium from unrefined oyster shell, bone meal or dolomite without the
USP symbol, as these historically have contained higher lead levels or other
toxic metals. ABSORBABILITY.. Most brand name calcium
products are absorbed easily in the body. If the product
information does not state that it is absorbable, how well a tablet dissolves
can be determined by placing it in a small amount of warm water for 30 minutes,
stirring it occasionally. If it hasn't dissolved within this time it
probably will not dissolve in the stomach. Chewable and liquid calcium supplements
dissolve well because they are broken down before they enter the stomach.
Calcium, whether from the diet or supplements, is absorbed best by the
body when it is taken several times a day in amounts of 500 mg or less, but
taking it all at once is better than not taking it at all.
